ABOUT
The Hour of Code is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming. Even though this event is called the Hour of Code, you can also think of this as an Hour of Coding to Learn, an Hour of Learning about Computer Science, an Hour of Thinking Creatively, or an Hour of Digital Design. You do not need to know anything about coding although it is fun to learn alongside your students, and there are even activities that can be done without computers.
BACKGROUND
Code.org launched the first "Hour of Code Challenge" during Computer Science Education Week from December 9 to December 15, 2013 to teach computer science to school students. The number of people participating increases each year by the millions. Valparaiso Community Schools has participated in the Hour of Code since 2013.
